How many bags of the ingredient you need are in the storeroom? Are there enough bags and containers in the packing area? Preparing for production means checking packaging and everyday consumables as well as ingredients. Recording names, quantities, and storage places in Tana gives colleagues in stores and work areas the same inventory record to consult.
Include identifying details in item names, such as ingredient type and pack size, or a packaging product code and dimensions. Register variations separately when they need their own counts, and add photos to distinguish similar packs. Set up storages for ingredient shelves, packaging stores, and packing areas to see each item’s total and the quantity in each place. If you have several sites, group their storages into a location for each site.
Agree on counting units, such as unopened bags of ingredients or individual containers. If you count unopened stock, reduce the quantity when a bag is opened, and update records as supplies arrive, are used, or move between storages. Set low-stock thresholds to help avoid running out of regular ingredients and packaging. These use the total across all storages, so check individual storage quantities when deciding whether a work area needs replenishing. QR labels open shelf records directly, and CSV exports help with stocktakes.
Tana’s AI inventory management is a great fit for food manufacturers
Use Tana’s AI inventory management to ask about recorded stock: “How many P101 bags are in the packaging store?” or “Which containers are running low?” You can also request a quantity update, such as “Add the 500 P101 bags that arrived today to the packaging store.”
Connect a compatible AI assistant through Tana MCP Server and start making everyday inventory management smoother.
